Eyes
Medium purple red.

Nose
Ripe, forest berry fruits and lifted violets are nuanced by subtle aromas of five spice and graphite derived from fine grain French oak.

Mouth
Intense blueberry fruit is layered by white pepper, and sandalwood spice. A pure acid line directs the classic medium bodied palate from front to back. Fine, powdery tannins elongate the finish.

Winemaking Notes
Our Section One Shiraz is sourced entirely from the oldest Shiraz vines on the estate at 50 years of age. These mature vines always produce wines with high toned floral aromatics, delicate blue fruit flavours and long, seamless structure. Naturally low cropping at 3.5tons/Ha, Section One was machine harvested in the early hours of the 15th of March 2024. A high percentage of whole berries were retained and fermented in five-ton open top fermenters. Pumped over twice daily until 4 Baume, then backed off to one per day, the ferment was kept below 26 degrees Celsius throughout to retain aromatic purity, as well as extract very fine, powdery tannin. Pressed at dryness and matured in 15% new and seasoned tight grain French oak puncheons for 11 months.
