2022 Richardson Shiraz

$60

Smell
Aroma is filled with pure blueberry fruit and crushed violets, supported by subtle notes of liquorice, five spice, cardamom and woodsmoke, framed by well-integrated oak.

Taste
The palate is both plush and tense, with succulent plum and blueberry fruit flowing through the mid palate. Soft, silky tannins extend seamlessly to a long finish, creating layering, complexity and great persistence. Further evolution and complexity will develop with time in bottle.

Winemaking Notes
The Richardson wines display great drinking appeal upon release as well as an
assured propensity for long term aging. Block 35 Shiraz was one of the first parcels
of Shiraz brought into the winery in 2022 and makes up 100% of the Richardson
Shiraz from this year. Planted in 1996 on a steep north-west facing slope on one of
the highest points of our estate vineyards, it benefits both from elevation and sun
exposure allowing even accumulation of flavour, whilst retaining brilliant freshness
throughout the ripening window. These attributes, along with multiple picks
throughout this varied 5.5 Hectare block allow the winemaking team to create
layers in this wine that translate into the glass.
